Manhyia District Hospital in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, has been cited by the National Health Insurance Authority and lauded for introducing an innovative and efficient Patient Folder Management System at the hospital. Since the introduction of the system, referred to as E-archives, it has become a model for other healthcare facilities seeking to improve their patient folder retrieval systems.
The impressive and emulation-worthy E-archives system at Manhyia was noted in Clinical Audit reports after an inspection of the facility, and quickly came to the attention of the NHIA management which is constantly seeking and working towards qualitative improvements in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The Authority has commended the example of the Manhyia District Hospital and is recommending its E-archives system to other healthcare facilities for adoption.
