Medical and Surgical Skills Institute (MSSI) was established in the year 2005 as the first Surgical Training Center in Ghana, to provide Surgical Training in Advance Trauma Operative Management (ATOM). MSSI is an initiative of The West African College of Surgeons, Johnson & Johnson, International Aid Ghana, International Aid Michigan, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, American College of Surgeons and Society of Black Academic Surgeons.
In response to the need to train other health professionals, MSSI in December 2008 introduced other continuous education medical courses for health professionals at all levels of the health sectors in Ghana. Some of the training courses offered at the center include:
