LAS Liberty School is a non-denominational Christian day and boarding school offering American curriculum and world-class methodology. We cater to a variety of cultures from ages 3 months through to 18 years. Our school year is divided into two semesters (August-December & January-June) and additionally into quarterly terms. We also offer summer school for students needing revision, summer camp open to the public for holiday fun, and a year round Crèche program. Our school is dedicated to small class sizes and one-on-one teacher interaction. Built on the foundations of our 3 core values Christ, Community, and Excellence we provide holistic learning for the spirit, soul, and body and the practical application of the information taught. The school seeks to encourage students to combine academic ability and intellectual curiosity with critical thinking skills within the context of Biblical principles.
English is the primary language of instruction, with compulsory foreign language courses in French and Chinese. Ghanaian languages are offered as after school clubs for those with interest in learning Twi, Ga, Fante, or Ewe. LAS conducts an annual STEAM fair featuring academic works in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Extra-curricular courses include PE, music, swimming, UCMAS, art, foreign language, and other various electives. After school clubs range from cooking, etiquette, and ballet to life guarding, bible trivia, and board games. LAS is the only school in Ghana to offer capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, as an after school club. We also feature sports teams for all ages in soccer, basketball, and volleyball and participate in inter-school matches as well as community tournaments.
LAS alumni boast of admission into universities such as Cardiff University, Marbella University, Calvin College, Cornell University and Webster University. This is a testimony of the rigor and tenacity of the LAS system, especially as a new school founded in 2012. We produce top academics, but also well rounded, respectful, and responsible members of society who have an instilled value for life-long learning and education and the application of knowledge and wisdom as well as righteous living standards in accordance with the word of God.
LAS has earned candidacy status for ACSI (American Christian Schools International) and MSA (Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools) accreditation for all grade levels, and the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Program for 10th through 12th grades. We are also an ongoing member of AISA (Association of International Schools in Africa). More information is available on our website www.libertyas.org
