It was started in 1994 by Nana Opoku-Ampomah, the founder and 1st Director of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) currently University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the paramount chief of Amoafo traditional area, a former University of Ghana graduate, journalist of the Daily Graphic and the author of the Ashanti Kingdom .
