Odorgonno Senior School was established on 25th January, 1940 by a hardworking former teacher of Accra High School, the late Mr. Joseph T. Leigh-a Sierra Leonean in close connection with another teacher of Accra High School, a Ghanaian called Jerome K. Acquah also of blessed memory.
It was sited behind the Adabraka Police Station. Government absorbed the school in 1966. The first Headmaster after the school was absorbed by the Government was Mr. Ashong Mettle from, 1966-1976. He was succeeded by Mr. Addo Johnson from 1976-1987. The third Headmaster was Mr. Hardy Frimpong from 1987-1995, he move the school (which was then a boys school) from the old site to it’s current site at Awoshie in 199o. this site was collected by the national liberation council for the school as far back as 1972. The new site had only 3 block of 5 classrooms, one Science laboratory and one bungalow for the Headmaster which were between 1974 and 1978. Mr. Frimpong ensured the demarcation of the new site.
Mr. Addo Johnson and Mr. Hardy Frimpong were strongly. Mr. Frimpong admitted girls in his first in his first admission in 1990. The fourth Headmaster Rev. Brown (1995-1996) handed over to Mr. Kumi Henry from 1996-2001. Mr. Kumi handed over to Mrs. Mary Amankwah took the baton from 2001-2013. The school has its motto; “Nobis Nitendum Est” our is to strive or we must strive.
