Opoku Ware School is the first Catholic Boys Secondary School to be established in the Ashanti Region with a mission to deliver quality and holistic education based on academic excellence and sound moral principles in all areas of study. The School aims to discipline not only the mind and body but also the spirit, thereby giving complete formation to the human person. The uniqueness of Opoku Ware School, however, lies in the fact that it is the only Catholic School in Ghana whose name does not connote a Catholic or Christian identity. The need for Catholic Education in the Ashanti Region as requested by the Catholic laity in Kumasi led to the establishment of Opoku Ware School on 28th February 1952.
Through officials circles of manhyia Palace and the chiefs and people of Odeneho Kwadaso and Fankyenebra provided the Catholic church with a parcel of land on the Baworo Stool Land for the land.
The school offers a three-year Senior High School Course. The curriculum of the school consists of core subjects namely: English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, ICT, RME, and PE, and four specialized programmes which are General Science, General Arts, Business, and Visual Arts.
